Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just over a year ago Kathleen Jeanne Carlsen, born Oct 28 1958, affectionately known as Jeanne to friends and family, lived life to the fullest, she carried that torch to her last breath, she adored her three children Kristopher, Laura Kaye, and Erika, and her treasured newborn grandson Gunnar. Loved by her brother's Dave and John and her extended family.

A spirited competitive swimmer all her life with her husband Glenn Carlsen always at her side, together they not only swam but owned and operated Fitness Equipment Calgary from the summer of 92' until it's recent sale. Jeanne was a highly ranked Masters swimmer holding world records in her age group and some of that championship spirit can be accredited to her mother Kaye Ferguson, and her late father Rich Ferguson, who were both Olympic athletes in their day. She passed away from complications of the advancing Cancer on Nov. 25 2014 at Foothills Hospltal. Courageous to the end she was still working out the day before and dancing in the halls. She was one of the great ones touching many lives and will be missed.

Calgary Patriots Team Championships

The Calgary Patriots is hosting their team championship swim meet, which also serves as a time trial for us masters.

To submit your entries, please email Quincy your events and entry times (your best guesses are good enough, they are mandatory for seeding purpose) by Sunday November 16th @ 2:00pm. Quincy needs to put together the entry file and send it to the Patriots that afternoon, as he can't do it at work during the week . Everyone who participated the last 3 years had a great time, and we expect this year to be no different. This is a super fun way to try out a few races to see what you can do, and don't forget it's free to all of our members!

While our members are encouraged to swim, we may also need a few volunteers to help run the event (such as timing), so let me know if you're available to help. This would be a great way to see what swim meets are all about by participating in that capacity, plus you can cheer on your teammates! If you have any questions about this meet, or about Masters swim meets in general, please do not hesitate to let Quincy know.
